The Enterprise is in orbit of a lush green planet. On the surface survey teams conduct scans with tricorders and various instruments. Standing in near a lake some way from the tree line is Captain James T. Kirk, he is clearly taken with his surroundings, he picks up a flat stone and absent-mindedly skims it across the lake. Although the scenery is lovely and idyllic, he can't quite keep a from feeling a pang of regret, not so long ago on a world very similar he'd experienced a life very different from his own. Simpler, peaceful and although he felt a loss there he could comprehend at the time, he was happy. Miramanee. Her name came to his mind unbidden. It had been almost a year, but his still dreamt of her, the smell of her, her touch. He closed his eyes against the memories, he sensed someone approach.
“Jim, this place is incredible! Just perfect for...well practically anything.” McCoy grinned from ear-to-ear. Kirk returned the smile, it was easier to keep the doctor in the dark about his feelings, he simply didn't want his old friend to worry.
Spock was walking over toward them as well, a little further back than McCoy, taking tricorder readings as he went. Upon reaching Kirk and McCoy he made a brief report to the captain.
“Fascinating Captain. Perfect Earth-like conditions, variations of vegetation and animal life, although not indications of sentient life and no evidence of past visitation from space-faring races.”
Kirk nodded. This was a rare find, a planet completely suitable to human and humanoid life with, so far, no evidence that another space-faring race lay claim to it. He was about to ask Spock for some information when his communicator signalled.
Spock and McCoy had gotten into a mild argument about shore leave, and Kirk wasn't particularly interested in the details motioned he was going to walk off a little way to take the call.
“Kirk here!” He said as he flipped open the device.
“Captain. We have received an unusual distress call, it came over with a lot of subspace interference.” Uhura spoke through the communicator. “All we can decipher so far is that it is a distress call and that it is Federation in origin, but from our records there are no Starfleet ships of Federation bases at the co-ordinates supplied with the message.”
“That is odd. We're pretty remote out here anyway.” Kirk said.
“I have linguistics and the communications lab going over the message, but I think you should take a listen yourself sir.” Uhura informed him.
“Very well, Mr. Spock and myself will beam back up to the ship. Kirk out!” Kirk walked back over to Spock and McCoy.
“Problem Captain?” Spock asked.
“Odd distress call. Apparently of Federation origin.”
“We are approximately twenty light years from any Federation outpost. Maybe a starship taken off course, or a civilian vessel?”
Kirk nodded, both were reasonably explanations. He turned to McCoy. “Bones. Could you round everyone up down here. I don't want to break up the survey unless I have to.”
“Sure Jim.” McCoy nodded, and made his way back toward the survey team base camp.
Once he was a few steps away Kirk flipped open his communicator once more. “Kirk to Enterprise. Two to beam up!” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a reason it's called a 'teaser'...it's to keep you from changing the channel!
My contribution to Star Trek Season 4.
JamesJab Uniforms. Background By Didi_mc. Captain James T. Kirk (looking totally awesome) morph by Me.
Cool - a multi-part treatment! Ambitious! I'm eager to see where you take it! So are you going to break it into three more acts and a closer?
Yeah.... the figure's "Kirkoid", but the figure isn't recognizable as Shatner... aside from the hair I should see if I can scare up my Werts morph for ya. That wasn't bad. And hey - this Spock is the best I've seen! [link] Just combine it with Mylochka's M4 Vulcan texture. [link]
I don't understand...we are already to the opening credits and JTK hasn't gotten laid yet? I don't think you're being very faithful to the original series.
Beautiful picture, Simon. Very well done. I don't suppose you'd consider sharing your Capt Kirk morph. It looks really close to the young William Shatner.
And I agree about the 'teaser' comment. LOL.[link]

I've got Werts morph, but I didn't like it. That's why I made my better morph.
MIRROR SPOCK: (raising eyebrow) You're agoniser, Mr. Casswell.
Or, maybe they edited it for release in the UK.
And I agree about the 'teaser' comment. LOL.[link]
