Lieutenant Amy Donohue had just finished her scan of the local area, and had began to walk back to base camp when the call came through. She flipped open her communicator.
"Lieutenant Donohue." she said.
The high pitched tiny voice of Lieutenant Blynn, the Excalibur's
chief communications officer came over the comm. "Hello Lieutenant, we are having trouble getting in touch with Lieutenant Fenanna. Her last report said she was collecting samples not far from you location. Could you locate her? Commander Williams wants all preliminary reports in before we call it a night down there."
Amy felt a sudden jolt of worry in her stomach...she knew she shouldn't really. This planet they were surveying had been harmless for the most part.
"Aye Lieutenant. That shouldn't be a problem." Amy answered.
"Excellent. Transmitting her communictor locate beacon to yours." Lieutenant Blynn confirmed and signed off.
Amy kept her communicator open and adjusted some controls, swung it around in an arc until it pinged to indicate a direction. Shrugging her head she set off in the direction it indicated.
She had known Robyn Fenanna for around a month now and she couldn't help but worry about her, after all they had been on a few fun dates, and well Amy had felt The Click
she knew that for sure. The question was. Did Robyn feel the same?
The communicater let out another beep. This one telling Amy she should be in visual distance of Robyn, and just as she reached the top of the slight hill she was climbing she could see the telltale red of Robyn's uniform. Amy flipped her communicator closed and picked up her pace in order to catch Robyn before she moved onto scan something else that took her fancy.
Amy hopped over more of the ruins they kept finding, left behind by some long dead alien race. Although, this time no alien computers with a dictator's consciousness left inside! They didn't want a repeat of that mission for sure.
Amy smiled as she slowed to sneak up on Robyn. She knew she wasn't succeeding from the way Robyn bent over to take readings of something on a raised embankment. Her eyes drawn to Robyn's rear and it was all Amy could do to keep the grin of her face. She failed of course...this woman just hit all of Amy's buttons.
She flipped open her communicator. "Donohue to Excalibur
. Our wayward Lieutenant hasn't wandered far, in fact I have a rather delightful view of her shapely rear as we speak."
Robyn Fenanna let out a chuckle crossed with a snort. "Just like you to sneak up on a girl when she's scanning. Is that Lieutenant Blynn on the comm? Tell her I've found some of the most wonderful specimens. These crytals are fascinating, the tricorder is having a tough times scanning them...hey!"
Amy had taken her hand and placed the tricorder and her tricorder on the embankment. "Come on pretty baby...put your little hand in mine..." she began to sign, swaying as if to imaginary music and pulling Robyn into a dance. "...things are shaking on the dance floor...everybodies feeling fine..."
Robyn couldn't keep the smile off her face any longer and she joined in the dance with more enthusiasm and Amy continued to sing. "...don't waste another minute...slip into the light...come on and dance with me tonight..."
On the bridge of the Excalibur
everyone was grinning. Captain Kelly Blaise glanced over at her first officer. "Don't tell me those two are flirting...again!
Perry Lane shrugged. "You have repeatedly let the crew know you don't follow the strict regulations regarding intercrew fraternisation, as long as it doesn't break any interspecies mating protocols."
Blaise sigh. "Lieutenant Blynn, at least pipe them down some music. Lieutenant Donohue's singing is an...acquired taste."
Down on the planet Amy and Robyn were in full swing. "...tell ya mama that ya leavin'...tell ya papa that we're gone...." Amy sang.
Robyn continued with: "...now move a little closer...let me hold you tight..." Her dance moves bring Amy closer to her.
"...come on and dance with me tonight!"
The communicator beep more loudly for a second time and then the Captain's voice came over it. "Okay...Lieutenants, are you going to flirt all day, or do we have to beam down a bucket of ice water to separate you?"
Robyn and Amy burst out into laughter, Amy ran over to the communicator picking it up she said. "Confirm on ice water Captain, we are heading back to the beam down point now. Come on, Rhi!"
Amy flipped the communicator closed and pack Robyn's sample satchel, slinging it over her shoulder.
"But I haven't finished scanning!" protested Robyn.
Amy smiled. "Fresh day tomorrow...come on."
They walked back down the hill towards base camp, barely a few steps into the walk Robyn linked her hand to Amy's...and there it was again...The Click.
My lower deck characters aboard the Excalibur
. Amy Donohue is essentially my Mary-Sue (sans annoying streak/superpowers) and Robyn Fenanna is simply Rhianna in Starfleet.
The original Flirting On Mission was an intent to capture the look and feel of the Original Series shoestring budget. I gotta admit though that purple sky wasn't easy on the eyes, so I had in mind to do a 'Remastered' version, I've made some adjustments as well as revise my lighting system, along with a story update.
Story was revised from my original to make it more romantic comedy in nature, which I felt it was kinda lacking after re-reading/getting some feedback. Song lyrics from Dance With Me Tonight, from the soundtrack of That Thing You Do.
